Weapon Customization UI
Personal Project
This was an attempt to create an intuitive and informative interface for customizing weapons for a game set in a cyberpunk setting. I wanted to create a streamlined layout that gives the player detailed information without overwhelming them with too many stats or gear options at once. Because of the minimal use of color, shape language and clear button states are crucial. Separating the focused elements in 3D space also makes them stand out and contributes to the near-future corporate aesthetic.
Loading Screen
The loading screen's focus is the logo of the organization the player belongs to. It also provides tips to help guide players towards features they may not be aware of.
Loadout
The Loadout provides the player with weapon customization options and information. Players can glimpse their other weapons in the background, and cycle through them using L2/R2. A quick carousel animation maintains the illusion of 3D space and shows the player their expanding arsenal without taking up significant screen real-estate.
Weapon Optimization
Players can choose optimize their weapons towards one of three combat styles. This helps players who are looking to quickly jump into the action set up their weapons efficiently. Those who want more control can use it as a foundation to fine-tune their equipment.
Mod Selection
Selecting a mod slot will open the Mod Selection menu. Players can see what mods they have, and which ones they can still unlock for that slot. The icons are all based directly on in-game models, helping the player make the connection between the two.
Mod Comparison
Selecting a different mod not only shows how it will affect the weapon's performance - it also updates the 3D model of the weapon. Flavor text helps add personality and gameplay hints for each unique mod.
